The Museum of the Old Colony is a personal work of conceptual art that takes the form of an imaginary museum. It is not intended to serve as a historical archive or as a reference work of any sort. Nevertheless, an important component of the installation at each specific venue consists of precise captions identifying the source of each photographic, three-dimensional, or motion picture work that is employed. These notes usually take the form of an exhibition checklist or wall labels.
